Privacy policy

Twigs exists so families can keep their story somewhere private. That only works if you can trust us with it, so our privacy posture is simple: your family's data belongs to your family. We don't sell it, we don't show ads against it, and we don't make it public.

What we collect

• Account information. Your email address, used to sign you in with one-time codes.
• Family tree content. The names, dates, relationships, photos, stories, and moments that you and your family members add.
• Basic usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) kept briefly for security and debugging.

What we do with it

We use your information to run the product: showing your tree to people who hold the family password or a claimed profile, sending sign-in codes, and keeping linked profiles in sync across trees when you belong to more than one. That's it.

What we never do

• We never sell or rent your data to anyone.
• We never show advertising, in the product or against your data.
• We never make family trees public or searchable. Private trees carry a noindex instruction so search engines skip them entirely.
• We never use your family's photos or stories to train AI models.

Who can see your tree

Each tree sits behind its own family password at its own address. Within a family, keepers manage everything; members edit their own card. If the same person belongs to two trees, only the identity fields they share (name, photo, birthday, contact details) travel between them.

Where data lives

Tree data and photos are stored with our infrastructure providers (currently Supabase and Vercel) in the United States, encrypted in transit. Photos are served through short-lived signed links rather than public URLs.

Your choices

• Any member can edit or remove content from their own card.
• Keepers can remove people, photos, and moments, or an entire tree.
• To delete your account or an entire family's data, email hello@ourtwigs.com and we'll take care of it.

Children

Cards for children are managed by their parents; children under 18 can't claim accounts. Please be thoughtful about what you post about minors, even in a private tree.
